Youth and Childhood

The municipality offers several services and leisure activities dedicated to the children of the community.

The Pedibus is a participatory system that allows children to walk to school under the supervision of an adult – a life-changing invention!

The Pedibus route, its stops, and timetable are organised by parents. Each parent who registers their child for the Pedibus also signs up to “walk” their child once or twice a week, according to need. The child joins the Pedibus at a designated stop and travels to school with peers under adult supervision. After school, the Pedibus returns the child to the stop closest to home, where a parent is waiting.

Walking children from home to school without noise or pollution, relying solely on physical energy, the Pedibus offers several benefits:

Safety
The Pedibus helps children learn essential safety and behavioural rules, fostering independence and preparing them to walk safely on their own. It also highlights potential hazards on the school route and helps identify solutions to address them.

Health
Walking to school from an early age helps prevent many diseases linked to inactivity, such as obesity and cardiovascular problems.

Social Interaction

In the face of demanding school schedules, a Pedibus line reduces parental pressure through mutual assistance. Social bonds are created along the school route between parents and among children.

Environment
Walking does not pollute, unlike cars, which consume significant energy over short distances. Let’s leave the car behind for these short trips!

At La Lanterne Magique, the cinema club for 6–12 year olds, children discover a new film each month, without their parents but with their peers. A few days beforehand, they receive an illustrated newsletter presenting the film. An entertaining and educational performance precedes the screening.
